Born and raise in Santa Monica, Dr. Hattenbach attended Franklin Elementary, Lincoln Middle, and Santa Monica High School. He is a 3rd generation physician on the westside; his great grandfather Luis Winer, MD was a Professor of Dermatology at UCLA for 30+ yrs, and his grandfather Gerald Levin, MD was a Dermatologist on staff at Saint John’s Santa Monica and UCLA. Dr. Hattenbach is deeply honored and thrilled to give back to the community that raised him by providing compassionate, high-quality medical care.

Dr. Hattenbach’s specializes in diagnosing and treating injuries and disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system, with particular expertise in spine care and precise image guided treatments for joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and more.

He takes pride in thoroughly listening to his patients, and partnering with them in order to identify the source of their problem. His integrative approach to managing pain conditions allows him to develop personalized treatment plans that address not only the immediate source of pain or dysfunction but also the underlying biomechanical and physiologic causes.

His mission is to empower patients to feel like the best version of themselves by helping them return to the activities that bring their lives joy and meaning—whether it’s restful sleep, traveling, exercising, or simply living fully again.
